Awesome historic venue full of workshops where local artisans make their crafts. I bought several framed handprints, a wool scarf, and pottery. There are plenty of creative crafts for sale to choose from. The lady at the cashier is in urgent need of a basic course on how to wrap pottery up. The tearoom would be more appealing if it were 3-4 degrees warmer.

Well worth a visit - this converted mill houses a few floors of goodies. There is a lovely cafe with a good range of food and drinks, exhibition spaces and artist studios. Good place to treat yourself/buy presents if you’re looking for something original and handmade.

Farfield Mill is a hidden gem in the heart of Sedbergh. Housed in a beautifully restored former mill, it's a great place for art and craft lovers. The regularly changing exhibitions are always interesting to see. The café, with its delicious homemade cakes and stunning riverside views, is the perfect spot to relax after exploring the mill. Whether you're seeking inspiration or simply a delightful day out, Farfield Mill is a must-visit.

What a gem of a place! The mill is full of local artists and crafts beautifully presented.

It's over 4 floors so plenty to see for a couple of hours. The cafe is great, with a lovely ambience.

I chatted to artists and people who worked at the Mill and all really to chat and explain about the place. Not ridiculously expensive either.

Really excellent place to visit if you are in the least bit interested in art, local culture.
or history. Absolutely wonderful way to spend the morning or afternoon. You can see some of the artist working if you’re lucky and come at the right time and they’re happy to talk to you as well about their art. Really immersive experience. The café is also very nice although I only had a small snack, and a tea, the food did look good.

Lovely place to visit. The mill is a mile or two outside the beautiful little town of Sedbergh and there is a country walk from the town to the mill. Inside the mill is lots of information about the history of the building, it's owners and workers as well as live weaving demonstrations and a chance to try it out yourself. It's set over 4 floors with lift and stairs access, floors 2 and 3 were mainly work and display areas for artists and crafts people who rent space in the building. Lovely tea room/ cafe on the bottom floor serves hot and cold drinks as well as snacks, small meals and a range of homemade cakes. This can be accessed directly if you don't want to do the mill itself and just outside the door to the cafe is a picturesque view of the river that once powered the machinery. There is no charge for entering the mill but they do ask for donations.

We decided to visit Farfield Mill at last minute, as despite knowing it was there we had never been.
It was a delightful experience.
There was plenty of parking, it was easy to find, and inside the mill, there was a pleasant balance of exhibits of weaving and woollen production, printing, and an area given over to craft products produced by artisan craftsmen, all of which were for sale.
Some of the craftsmen actually work at the site, and are able to discuss their work with you.

Visited Thursday 19th Oct.

A lovely place to spend a couple of hours.

Good clean tea rooms with friendly staff. Dog friendly in the cafe but not in the galleries.

Interesting history of textiles aimed at all ages.

Fabulous, quality crafts to buy. Prices from a few pounds upwards. Brilliant for a special gift for an awkward person! There are ceramics, jewellery, woodwork, paintings and lots of textiles , wool etc. Beautiful just to look at! Many of the artists are working in their studios.

Make sure you visit the second floor. More beautiful goodies for sale but home to Stuart Wilkie. He is there Wednesday to Sunday. His wood cut and lino cut work is phenomenal! Stunning! And he is such a lovely guy who is happy to share how his artwork is created! He has the most beautiful work for sale ranging from cards, at a few pounds, up to mounted and framed pictures that he has printed on his 1868 Albion Press. Lots of wildlife but scenery too. Really worth a visit. We will be back when next in the area. I've my mind set on one of his wren prints.
